We are looking for education experts to join our team of Product Support Developers.

 

As a developer you will use your knowledge, experience, and creativity to help us deliver our support packages for qualifications and provide teachers with high quality resources and guidance. You will have appropriate subject and assessment expertise within the UK education system, and  produce and revise material to a specified brief. You will be aware of the current educational climate and be familiar with new and evolving developments in your subject.

 

Support development opportunities are ongoing. Tasks vary in the length of time required. We aim to be flexible with deadlines to accommodate this work around your existing commitments. Our briefs provide requirements for the content and a preferred format. Support resources may include, for example, professional development training materials, schemes of work, candidate style answers, sample assessment materials, e-learning course content, recorded video presentations, or other teacher support content.

 

The ability to use IT confidently and effectively is essential to this role. This must include competency in using Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Developing and revising resources may be carried out at home. Payment is set on a task-by-task basis. You will need to use your own IT equipment to complete the tasks.

 

All applicants for this role must complete the associated exercise to demonstrate your suitability for the role. This can be found below:

 

Exercise:

Produce an engaging 1-hour lesson based on Section 2.3 Algorithms listed within  A Level Computer Science specification. You may choose any/multiple of the topics to focus on. The topic areas listed in Section 2.3 are:

  1. Analysis and design of algorithms for a given situation.
  2. The suitability of different algorithms for a given task and data set, in terms of execution time and space.
  3. Measures and methods to determine the efficiency of different algorithms, Big O notation (constant, linear, polynomial, exponential and logarithmic complexity)
  4. Comparison of the complexity of algorithms.
  5. Algorithms for the main data structures, (stacks, queues, trees, linked lists, depth-first (post-order) and breadth-first traversal of trees).
  6. Standard algorithms (bubble sort, insertion sort, merge sort, quick sort, Dijkstra’s shortest path algorithm, A* algorithm, binary search, and linear search).

You may find reference to the Content Clarification Guide useful to help ensure you cover the content accurately.

The lesson should:

  • be suitable for another teacher to deliver - particularly a non-specialist/newly qualified teacher.
  • include resource ideas.
  • Identify ideas for formative assessment
  • include one fully designed lesson activity
  • include a fully scoped lesson plan
  • include the relevant teaching PowerPoint

There is no requirement to produce all teaching resources/activities for the lesson beyond those listed.
