About the role 

As a visiting examiner, you will review candidate concept proformas prior to your visit, watch candidate performances on the day of the visit and provide a set of marks for each candidate based on a mark scheme.  You will work as part of a team with a supervisor who will accompany you on your first visit and guide you through the process and answer any queries.

We will make sure that you are fully trained so you understand the visiting exam process and your part in it. There will also be standardisation activities to make sure you can apply the mark scheme consistently. 

The marking window starts on 1 February and runs to the 1 June.  Centres can request visits at any time during this period.  You would be allocated a number of centres, who you would contact to make arrangements for the visit.  You would be expected to travel to each centre to undertake your allocated visits.  You would spend some time in the centre watching the candidates performances, and listening to candidates tell you about their design ideas.

Fees are paid for attending the visit and for the time spent marking the candidates’ concept proformas. We’ll quote specific details and fees when we offer you an examining task.

What we’re looking for 

• A teaching qualification or a degree in a related subject.
• Relevant teaching experience within the last three years. We also consider PGCE students who have completed the classroom teaching element of their course.
• Previous or current teaching experience within the UK education system.
• The ability to use IT confidently and effectively.

You don’t need to be teaching the OCR specification of your subject. We would also be interested in people with current or previous experience of working for other examination boards.

You will need to provide details of two referees that we can contact in support of your application. We will also carry out right to work checks if you are a UK based applicant.
