Requirements are that applicants will:
- have a PC/Mac, fast broadband and IT skills in order to attend online meetings
- have at least 2 years teaching experience of a relevant subject
- have a degree in History (or a related subject)
- be a good team player
- be able to respond to feedback professionally
Successful applicants will have:
- a keen eye for detail
- the ability to work well under pressure
- the ability to keep to deadlines
All applicants for the Setter role are required to complete an associated exercise (details below).
Your brief is to produce a selection of items and mark schemes/answer keys (where relevant) for Cambridge International AS Level in US History to 1877 (8101_01). The items and the mark scheme must reflect the level of demand, format and style of the sample assessment material for relevant units/components. It is not necessary to create an entire paper).
The range and number of items produced should be sufficient to demonstrate your ability to fulfil the author role being applied for and create assessment materials which are innovative, engaging and accessible to candidates.
All items must be:
- fit for purpose, i.e. valid, reliable, and error free
- consistent with the requirements of the specification
- mapped/targeted (as appropriate) to
- assessment objectives/assessment criteria/learning outcomes
- level of demand/grades
- specification content/coverage
- as inclusive as possible, using appropriate language

The deadline for applications is 15 December 2024.
Successful candidates will be expected to attend online meetings to scrutinise the paper. (usually occurring between August and November) These meetings can last from a series of half-day meetings to day-long meetings.
